The Ecotrust Building is throwing a little soiree you should know about, especially if you’re looking for a place to have your wedding or reception.  It’s a killer urban spot ~ right in the heart of the Pearl with ample opportunity for great photos within just a few blocks.  This is NOT your typical “ballroom” or golf course with corporate food and iddy-biddy personality.  Their vintage warehouses beam with modern sophistication, with the perfect setting for an effortlessly chic ceremony and/or smashing reception.

On May 9th they’re throwing a little event so they can show off a bit, and if you’re jonesin’ for a cupcake, (like I always am), Lisa from Cupcake Jones will be there and you can sample some of her confections for a less-than-ordinary spin on regular old wedding cake.

Here’s the lowdown on the event:

Join us for sampling sweet treats and jazzy punch from our fabulous caterers, as well as the opportunity to take home your favorite punch recipe.

May 9, 2009
11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Center for Architecture
403 NW 11th Ave.
Portland, OR

Special Thanks to the Ecotrust for using my photo and Lisa’s cupcakes for their sweet little postcard!

jonesin’ for a cupcake

My friends Lisa and Peter at Cupcake Jones invited me to come down for the PEARL BUNNY HOP this weekend and shoot some photos of the kids who come in for Easter treats.  It was so much fun!  If you have not yet had a the CUPCAKE JONES experience, you can find them on 10th & Everett.  They even has cupcakes for your pup!  And by the way… they do wedding cupcakes!

Introducing Amy Vining Photography!

I’m so excited that the day has finally come!  We’ve changed our company name to Amy Vining Photography ~ why?  Well, since we no longer offer videography for weddings, the name honestly didn’t make sense anymore… and I finally decided to make the leap.  With the help of graphic arts DIVA, Shelly Davidson, (more on her fabulousness later…) I made the leap with a fun new logo and am working on rebranding all my business cards, postcards, website, blog, etc., etc.  Needless to say I’ve had many late nights this week!  Who knew it would be so hard to change my company name???!  It’s the last time I’ll ever do it!!!

Coming up will be updated pricing and new packages for portraits and 2010 weddings.  There will be an all-new product line including birth announcements, graduation announcements, save-the-date cards, canvas prints, storyboards, and more!  It’s the next big project so stay tuned for that one.

Make sure to sign up for blog updates, above!  And be sure to leave some comments below and tell me what you think of my new logo!  I’m so excited about it!

moving pictures receives the 2009 bride’s choice award from wedding wire!

2009 Bride's Choice Awards presented by WeddingWire | Wedding Cakes, Wedding Venues, Wedding Photographers & More

WeddingWire, the nation’s leading wedding technology company, just announced that Moving Pictures Studio has won the 2009 Bride’s Choice Award™!

In its inaugural year, the Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes and honors vendors from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility. This year’s recipients represent the top three percent of WeddingWire’s vendor community, which includes over 100,000 wedding vendors from across the US. That means Moving Pictures is one of the very best wedding photographers.

Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds through surveys and reviews.

“We are excited to launch this annual award program to honor high-performing vendors based solely on the experiences of our WeddingWire community,” according to Timothy Chi, WeddingWire’s Chief Executive Officer. “This year’s recipients have set the bar high, exhibiting excellent service and expertise in the wedding industry.”

Moving Pictures Studio would like to thank our past clients for speaking on our behalf and helping us win the 2009 Bride’s Choice Award!
