debra – headshots and FUNshots!

Debra won a free session at Bridgeport and came in for some business headshots.  We had such a fun time and she brought several outfits and we ended up shooting more fun shots than we did headshots.  It was so fun!  We even ‘broke in’ to the empty space next door and stole a few shots inside their giant space an outside on the fire escape.  Fun!

All-Star Student Needed for Part-Time Holiday Help!

I’m looking for someone who will be interested in helping me out around the studio over the holiday season.  In the months of October and November, and even early December I get swamped with holiday gift orders, print orders, and holiday card orders that are pretty tough for one person to keep track of.   I need someone with exceptional organizational skills and someone who believes in my business the way I do! If you’re a high school student, be ready to show me some grades and achievements!  You must have access to a car for errand running to the post office, Office Depot, and the like.  YOU MUST MUST MUST BE A FAST LEARNER.  Here’s what the job will entail:

Ordering prints and other products from my photo lab and other vendors online

Running errands to various local places such as Office Depot, Paper Zone, Post office… all local

Organizing holiday card and frame orders and scheduling pickup times with clients

General studio cleanup and organization as needed (some sweeping, dusting, taking garbage downstairs)

Filing

Some customer service

This is a part-time position and the hours will be 2-3 days per week from about 3-6pm, depending on workload.  $9 per hour.

If this sounds like your cup of tea, please send me your letter at amyvining@me.com and tell me why you’re right for the job.  Students who can use this opportunity as a credit toward school would be preferred.

The New Studio {eastbank lofts}

I’m so happy to officially announce that we’ve signed our lease and will be moving into our new studio on October 1st!!!  I’ve teamed up with the INCREDIBLE Kimberly Whipps of Barefoot Photography and we’re going to be sharing this big, beautiful shooting and office space.  The entire building is currently being remodeled inside and out, and I visited our space today to see how it’s coming.  Today they were hanging the front door and putting the electrical work in.  Take a look!  I hope that Kimberly and I will be announcing some sort of open house or client appreciation party to launch the new space.  She happens to be in Disneyland right now with her kids (jealous) but the ball will be rolling when she returns.  Come see us!!!  I’ll be posting more photos as progress happens…

THE HALLWAY (OUR ENTRY DOOR IS ON THE LEFT) AND THE BRAND NEW STAIRCASE.  (FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE BEEN TO SEE ME AT TOWNE STORAGE…. THE NEW BUILDING HAS AN ACTUAL ELEVATOR!  WITH BUTTONS AND EVERYTHING!!!!)

INSIDE THE STUDIO WITH OUR TWO GIANT EAST-FACING WINDOWS AND THE NEW DOOR INSTALLATION.  LOOK AT ALL THE GREAT LIGHT!!!

THE VIEW FROM THE STREET.  THE MIDDLE ROW OF WINDOWS NEXT TO THE FIRE ESCAPE IS OUR SPACE

ME.

family portrait month – you can help!

DON’T MISS OUR SPECIAL “FAMILY PORTRAIT MONTH” PROMOTION!

Recording the faces of children and their families is such a pleasure.  That’s why I believe so strongly in the work of Operation Smile.  Each year this incredible organization of more than 6,000 volunteer doctors, nurses, dentists, and specialized health care professionals, perform free reconstructive surgeries for children suffering with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.  (More than 100,000 children are born with facial deformity each year in Operation Smile’s 26 partner countries.)

This October I am participating in a very special family portrait promotion.  Throughout the month we will celebrate “FAMILY PORTRAIT MONTH,” a wonderful opportunity for you to update your family portrait and help to support OPERATION SMILE.

Family Portrait Month is a wonderful way to teach children the value of reaching out to others.  Even small children can understand the importance of Operation Smile’s work, and they are eager to help these needy children.

I hope you will join with us in helping to make this vital work possible.  Don’t forget that the holiday season is right around the corner, so there’s no better time for a family portrait, which is always appreciated as a gift for family and friends and to send along with holiday greeting cards.

As always, I look forward to creating some truly wonderful portraits for your family!

SCHEDULE YOUR FAMILY PORTRAIT SESSION IN OCTOBER AND 100% OF YOUR SESSION FEE WILL BE DONATED TO OPERATION SMILE!

RESERVE YOUR DATE BEFORE 9/15 AND GET A REDUCED SESSION FEE OF ONLY $99.

AMY WILL DONATE 100% OF HER SESSION FEE EARNINGS TO OPERATION SMILE DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER!

Leah & John’s Engagement Shoot {portland wedding photography}

Crawford and I had the amazing experience of shooting Leah & John’s engagement shoot this weekend.  And after several hours with this couple, I know that this night is the first of many laughter-filled nights with these two!  Meeting for a cocktail (or two) beforehand got the night off on the right foot.  The only problem at the shoot is that none of us could quit laughing long enough to get a serious shot of the two of them.  Wait til you see these photos … they’re cracking up in just about every single one!  They will be up soon…. and in the meantime, you can check out a few of the ‘behind the scenes’ photos of us all having fun.  Whoever suggested that we go see the Journey cover band afterward is my new hero.  I can’t remember if it was John or Leah, I just know it was the beginning of a late, goofy night.  Prestidigitation! (Don’t ask.  I don’t even know.) Jiffy Pop!
